For some, moving to a retirement community is a well-planned and researched life change.  For others, the decision to move to a retirement community may come at a moment of crisis.  It is highly encouraged to take a tour of several retirement communities in the area to find the right fit for you or your loved one.  When visiting a retirement community, take note of things you see around you.  The staff, other residents – even the area of town the community is in.

Activities

Do you have an activity program?

Do you have an Activities Director?

Is family encouraged to participate?

Are the activities posted?

Is there a common area with a TV?

Is there a beauty/barber shop on site?

What to look for when visiting a Retirement Community:

Is there staff around?

Is the staff friendly and helpful?

Is the staff accessible to residents and their families?

Is there someone available 24 hours a day?
