Some of my best memories of my sweet grandmother, we all called her Mama G, my girls called her GG, are in her kitchen. She wasn’t a fancy cook, her recipes were all rather simple. She always was the one to prepare our meals for our big family get togethers. One of favorite places to be was in the kitchen with her, watching her go from stirring this and sprinkling that, smelling those amazing smells and getting to “test” all of the cookies and treats. She used this time to teach me too. I learned how to “wash dishes as you go” when you cook so you don’t have such a mess, set a table with fine china and linens and set the mood of an event with candles and music. By the time her guests arrived, her home felt magical. Sadly, Mama G passed away two years ago this March. When we were helping go through her things, my sister and I found something so precious. Her recipe book. Nothing fancy, just a small spiral bound notebook. But inside, were all of her “famous” recipes, all hand written on yellowing pages, with notes of when she would add this or that to change up a recipe. We cherish that book and all of the love and memories that it keeps alive for us. She was known for her chicken casserole and blueberry delight. These were two recipes she did not change, ever. She had a request for them at every holiday meal and church gathering.

I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I have thinking of this sweet lady and my precious memories of her. Enjoy!
