  • A doctor certifies they are expected to live six months or fewer

  • Medication for symptom relief

Adapting to Changing Needs

Health conditions or family needs may evolve after home hospice care starts. Talk to us about your concerns. We can guide you through care decisions and, if necessary, help with a transition to the SECU Hospice House or another setting based on patient and family needs and wishes.

Insurance Covers Home Hospice Care

Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance plans cover home hospice care. After a patient chooses hospice care, they will no longer receive Medicare coverage for treatment that could cure their terminal illness. However, Medicare continues to cover their home hospice needs. Patients have the right to stop hospice care at any time.

Ask us for help understanding insurance coverage and meeting your plan’s requirements.
